The La Societe des Quarante also known as the 40 & 8 is an independent honor organization of U.S. Veterans.
Inverness was chosen for alot of reasons including its DEDICATION to yhe recognition of returning veterans from overseas. Inverness displays respect for veterans who have lost their lives. We teach our children about patriotism.
Inverness was selected out of 55 cities for the title National City of the Year.
Our city manager Mr. Frank DiGiovanni was pleased we were selected at the state level-never thinking there was a chance for Inverness to win at the national level.
DiGiovanni said he felt it was awarded because we came together as one. The Mayor, Bob Plaistad was also pleased and honored.
At the start of the ceremony we welcomed back Sgt. Graylon hampton who returned from a yearlong tour in Iraq.
